Beyond the Bell: Outdoor Adventures and Hands-On STEM Learning Inspired Washoe County Students

Washoe County School District’s 21st Century Community Learning Center program is all about expanding opportunities for students beyond the school day. The program offers out-of-school academic enrichment and exciting activities that support and enhance students’ regular coursework. In partnership with Sierra Nevada Journeys, they took learning to the next level by bringing students to Overnight Outdoor Learning for outdoor school and immersive nature-based education experiences. Meanwhile, our education team sparked curiosity and deepened their STEM learning through hands-on, afterschool programs that made science come alive in fun and meaningful ways.
